Whether it is the patch panel in the workshop or the patch panel in the wiring room, its back end is idle. While the patch panel in the workshop is generally connected with the server by network cables, the patch panel in the wiring room is generally connected with the switch by network cables. So how to connect patch panel to switch? This depends on the types of patch panels and the connection method of the patch panel. The different types and connection methods will lead to different connection schemes between patch panels and switches.
Before connecting the patch panel and the switch, we should first determine the storage location of the patch panel and the switch and check with patch panel manufacturers to select the correct type for your application. Then we should select the appropriate length and number of network cables according to the needs, and finally, make the wiring connection according to the patch panel types and connection methods of the patch panels. The specific connections are as follows:
As one of the available cabling solutions, the direct connection wiring scheme is to use network cables to connect the patch panel in the workshop with the patch panel in the wiring room. Since the rear panel of the 110-wired patch panel is in wire-bonding mode, we need to wire up the network cable instead of using the network cable directly. The wiring steps for 110-wired patch panels are as follows:
Using a wire stripping knife to peel off the shell of the network cable (the reserved length is 40MM), then drive the network cable into the line clamp according to the standard, and finally use the wire cutter to crimp and cut the network cables.
Other cabling products can be driven into the patch panel according to the above steps. It should be noted that the connected network cable needs to be fixed on the supporting wireframe with a cable tie, which can effectively protect the network cable and facilitate management and maintenance.
The cross-wiring scheme is another method that uses the above-mentioned patch panel connection method. While conducting the cross-wiring scheme, we should firstly add two patch panels to the horizontal link, and then use a network cable to connect one end of the two patch panels in the horizontal link. Next, the other end of the two patch panels in the horizontal link will be respectively connected to the patch panel in the workshop and the patch panel in the wiring closet through network cables. Since the straight-through patch panel is adopted, the patch panel and the switch can be directly connected with the network cable. It should be mentioned that the network cable is plugged into the electrical port of the switch.
